Coming soon, Dallas Maverick fans will have a high-tech option to pay for tickets.

Owner Mark Cuban says the team will become the first pro sports franchise outside of California to accept bitcoin.

Cuban spent much of last year talking about a bitcoin bubble.

“Most stocks, there's not intrinsic value because you have no true ownership rights, no voting rights,” he told Bloomberg last October. “You just have the ability to buy and sell those stocks. They’re like baseball cards. And I think bitcoin's the same thing.”

The Mavs owner answered a Twitter question on Monday about when the team would start accepting bitcoin by replying, "Next season."

Cuban told Bloomberg the team will accept currency like bitcoin or Ether from companies it deals with. He added that the goal is to make it easy for fans to pay that way.

The big question now? Whether Dirk Nowitzki will still be around to spend those bitcoins.
