Dallas, TX – Both companies confirm they're engaged in what they call advanced discussions regarding a possible business combination transaction. Neither would clarify exactly what that means, nor add any other information unless and until an agreement is actually reached. News reports say Hewlett Packard is negotiating to buy EDS for 12 to 13 billion dollars, to expand its business services. EDS was founded by Ross Perot 45 years ago as an information outsource company. He long ago sold it and formed his own company. A hundred-37 thousand people work for EDS, 73-hundred of them in North Texas. California's Hewlett Packard is not only the world's top computer seller ahead of Dell, but offers technology services worldwide. Bill Zeeble KERA news.
