Gov. Perry signs HB 11, judicial pay raise bill

Austin, TX –

Gov. Rick Perry today signed House Bill 11, legislation that provides a pay increase for Texas judges.

"This legislation will give Texas judges their first pay increase in several years and help keep qualified, experienced men and women on the bench meeting the needs of Texas," Perry said.

HB 11 - authored by Rep. Will Hartnett and sponsored by Sen. Robert Duncan - increases the salaries paid to justices of district courts, appellate courts, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. The legislation sets the salary of district court judges at $125,000, appellate justices at $137,500, and members of the Court of Criminal Appeals and the Supreme Court at $150,000.
