Today is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday season for flying. DFW airport officials say travelers should get to the airport at least two-and-a-half hours before their flight time.

The airport’s Cynthia Vega says bad weather and ongoing construction at Terminal E and around the airport, could increase delays.

“Weather is an issue across the country today in the area of Chicago and the Northeast,” says Vega. “So we’re asking our passengers to really make sure they do call their airlines ahead so they know that their flights are scheduled on time.”

Airport officials also expect next Wednesday and Thursday to be busy travel days.

DFW airport has added 1,100 new covered parking spaces since Thanksgiving to handle more travelers.
