Dallas, TX – Former Mayor Ron Kirk is leading an effort to pass a 1.35 billion-dollar school bond in Dallas on Saturday. It would pay for 15 new schools, additional classrooms and renovations. Today Kirk responded to questions about why voters should trust DISD with the money while concerns exist about the district's financial management.

Kirk: "Those concerns, some of them may be legitimate, bu they don't rise to a level of giving anyone a reason to not support the needs of our students. I think we can be supportive of them as we deal with these other issues as well."

Bond critics have questioned DISD's delay in releasing a financial audit expected to be critical of the district. Some have criticized DISD's awarding millions in contracts to companies with ties its the board.
