Dallas, TX – Dallas County Health officials are warning people to get ready for the summer heat.

Department Director Zack Thompson says the county will open its "heat hotline" June first for people to get help with air conditioning. The program installs about five thousand window units every summer. And Thompson expects the Texas heat and the economy will boost the number of calls this year.

Thompson: Based on this economic situation, we are wanting to focus in the beginning on our senior citizens, those who are disabled, and individuals with small children.

Thompson says site visits will be conducted to determine eligibility. The number to call starting June first is 214-819-6001.
