Dallas Continues H1N1 Shots

Dallas, TX – Dallas County health officials are making progress vaccinating for the H1N1 virus. The program, which began Wednesday offers free immunization to high-risk groups in Dallas county.

In the past two days Dallas has inoculated almost 7000.

On Wednesday, the state health department announced a plan to consider using local health departments more effectively by giving them 20% of the vaccine received from the federal government.

Dr. John Carlo Medical Director for Dallas County Health and Human Services says that right now the county doesn't have enough vaccine to cover the high risk groups and probably won't for a little while longer.

Carlo: We certainly like the idea that we're going to be able to get more vaccine. We have not received any yet for that allocation. We haven't even been able to order yet for that allocation.

Dallas continues giving H1N1 vaccinations until 4:00 Friday.
