Black Ministers' Still Calling for Social Justice

Dallas, TX – On this 40th anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., some black ministers believe it's more important than ever to highlight the social justice challenges Dr. King preached about. They say the recent controversy surrounding sermons delivered by Barack Obama's pastor underscore a misunderstanding about what black ministers are saying.

Prominent Dallas Pastor Frederick Haynes talked to KERA's Shelley Kofler about the basis for many black sermons, which are more similar to Dr. King's sermons than some may think.
