North Texas Gets Its First Snow Of The Season (Just A Few Flakes)

North Texas got its first snow of the season Sunday evening -- but not much.

Many cities saw a few flakes. Expect about half an inch west of Interstate 35W and north of Interstate 20, the National Weather Service says. Otherwise, it's more of a dusting.

Expect lows in the 20s overnight, with wind chills in the teens.

Original post: A mix of rain, sleet and snow is expected across North Texas Sunday, but don’t expect much accumulation. Instead, it’s going to be very cold overnight.

Around 2:45 p.m., light freezing rain, drizzle and sleet were developing north and west of Dallas-Fort Worth, north of a line from Comanche to Mineral Wells to Sherman, the National Weather Service reported.

But the weather service doesn’t expect ice to form on the roads. A few slick spots could form on bridges and overpasses, so be careful.

No significant accumulations were expected. Less than an inch of snow could form on grassy and elevated services, the weather service says. Less than a half-inch is expected in Dallas-Fort Worth.

So there won’t be an ice storm, but there is a cold, windy night ahead. Expect overnight lows in the upper 20s across Dallas-Fort Worth. Winds could reach 25 mph, which could send wind chills down into  the teens.
