Dallas, TX –

The North Texas landscape is wearing a blanket of sparkling white, but the roads are not so pretty - covered in a thick layer of slush. KERA's BJ Austin talked to people out in the snow.

At the Famers Market in downtown Dallas, an impromptu snowball fight turned grown men into giggling boys. Good times for Raul Del Rio

Del Rio: Oh, I'm lovin' it. I haven't seen this since I was a kid. We're enjoying it. I gotta wait to get home to my kids to enjoy it even more. We're going to make a snowman as soon as I get home.

Jose Rivera can't remember when he's seen so much snow.

Rivera: I like it. I haven't seen snow like this since 20-something years ago.

In Seagoville, southeast Dallas County, the driver of a mini van loaded with four teenage boys was taking the snow in stride.

Driver: I'm from South Dakota, this ain't nothing. The only bad thing is you guys don't treat your roads.

Tx Dot crews in the 7-county Dallas District, as well as Tx Dot Fort Worth, have crews on the highways pre-treating treating bridges and overpasses.

In the town of Kaufman, Fire Chief Eddie Brown enjoyed the beauty of the snow.

Brown: It is pretty. I haven't seen this in many a year, guarantee. But I got a feeling it's going to be pretty bad.

Chief Brown says the slush that froze on roads and highways overnight is likely to make the morning commute show and difficult.
