Dallas has kicked off a new branding campaign: Big Things Happen Here. And tourism officials want everybody to get into the act.
Phillip Jones is president of the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“Big things happen here is our new branding campaign for Dallas and we’ve done a lot of research and it resonates very well with out test audiences because people associate big with Dallas and big with Texas," Jones said at the kickoff celebration at Victory Plaza.
So what big things are happening here? Clay Godwin and Mitzi Tally had a couple of ideas.
“I think the river may be a big thing," Godwin said referring to the Trinity River project of lakes, trails, and parks. "It’s just starting, maybe it’ll happen in our lifetime. I hope it does. Seems like Dallas is kind of re-emerging.”
"You know what I think the revitalization of downtown is one of the biggest things that’s going on right now," Tally said. "It's revitalizing, getting people downtown into the heart of the city and I think we need that.”
Phillip Jones wants everyone to catch BIG fever and take a photo standing between six foot tall B’s and G’s becoming the letter I.
“We have 23 B’s and G’s located throughout Dallas, all over the city," Jones says. "For the next month, we’ll be running this campaign where if you take a photo of yourself, we want you to be the I in BIG and then your share it with us.”
At #DallasBig. Each week a winner will be randomly selected and win big prizes, like a shopping trip to Neiman’s, and dinner cooked in your home by a top Dallas chef.
Jones says the idea is to spread the word that Big Things Happen Here by sharing your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media.
