American Airlines Loses Money In 4th Quarter

Dallas, TX – The world's largest carrier blamed high fuel prices and bad whether for its quarterly loss, which amounted to 28 cents a share. A year ago, it earned 17 million dollars, or 7 cents a share. In the quarter, the company paid 376 million dollars more for fuel than it had the year before, For all of 2007 though, the airline made money, earning 504 million dollars . Last year it earned 231 million. The company also announced 800 dollar one time only bonuses to eligible workers, as a thank for their work in the last, difficult year. Bill Zeeble KERA news.
