Denita Powell Malvern
Denita Powell Malvern develops KERA’s community engagement initiatives, maintains KERA’s community partnerships and helps enhance the station’s role across North Texas. She identifies target audiences, recruits subjects for events and news initiatives, and builds awareness, understanding and interaction with the community.
Denita has nearly two decades of museum, nonprofit and education experience. She’s worked for Cedar Hill ISD; The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future; The College of Adult Learning at Cincinnati Christian University; The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Cincinnati Public Schools.
She has a B.A. in history from Wittenberg University and an M.Ed. in Education Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati. She is a 2003 Inductee of the Cincinnati YWCA’s Rising Star Program – Career Women of Achievement.
She is also a member of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) Education Center Board.
Her interests include education, philanthropy, public policy, social issues, community engagement, history and the arts.
